Electronic mail, a Web server, DNS, firewalls, LANs and WANs, an intranet – it can be confusing. And what about connections: ISDN, frame relay, 56K, and T-1? Even if you're familiar with these technologies, finding the best solution for your situation can be difficult and time consuming.

Systems and network services

Intergraph can help. We offer complete network and systems services – from determining requirements, to design and installation, to maintenance and support. Our services include installing state-of-the-art equipment, but we can also help you use your legacy systems more effectively. Intergraph's NetCheck™ and Network Analysis services provide performance and operational assessment of your LAN or WAN, and our Cable Plant Certification and Cable Plant Maintenance and Troubleshooting services focus on physical wiring plants. We can analyze the network, identify problems, recommend solutions, and make repairs to be sure your network is in prime working order. For example, a network analysis for the East Bay Municipal Utilities District in Oakland, Calif., which occupies a nine-floor building, resulted in recommendations for improving server, workstation, and network performance. The redesigned network speeds access, reduces problems, and provides for increasing network traffic.

Migration workshops

Intergraph also offers technical workshops on migrating to a Windows NT and Windows 95 environment. Over the years, we have migrated our own entire enterprise from VAX/VMS to UNIX and now to Windows. This invaluable experience helps us help our customers.

Customers such as the Graphics and Mapping division of Texaco Exploration and Production Inc. have taken advantage of Intergraph's expertise. With Intergraph's assistance, this Texaco organization migrated from a UNIX/RISC and VAX environment to Windows NT, while maintaining a 95 percent uptime record. Jim Bennett, Graphics and Mapping team leader, said this about the successful effort: "Intergraph's Systems and Network Services organization worked hard to find the right skills to meet our needs. Their goal was to form a Texaco-Intergraph partnership, so that 'we' could accomplish the migration."

Building new networks

Intergraph's networking expertise helped the Miami-Dade (Florida) Water and Sewer department improve productivity in its engineering department by implementing a network for 50 isolated workstations. Previously, information was shared between employees who copied it onto diskettes and carried the diskettes among machines. Intergraph designed and implemented a complete network system, including a technical information management system based on Intergraph's AIM suite of products. The result is a single logical system that is easily accessible to all employees.

Internet connections

We use top-quality Raptor Systems Eagle-1 firewall software to protect vital information, while still providing access to authorized users.
